Here we go, the adventure begins!
Big Ben is loaded up and we’re heading north with a first target: Lille.
Well, as is so often the way with us, the plan soon got rejigged.
After several hours on the road, a strange little noise under Big Ben treats us to our first impromptu stop in a car park. Quick inspection: nothing alarming, off we go again!

But tiredness wins in the end. With 372 km on the clock, about 2 hours from Lille, rather than pushing on, we decide to stop for the night in Huppy.
We find a quiet little spot next to a football pitch. Perfect… well, almost.
At 2 in the morning, a few youngsters clearly decide it’s THE ideal moment for a kickabout.
Up at around 07:30, feeling a bit groggy, but with a lovely surprise: two wild boar having a fine old time in the fields right next door.
First target missed, first improvised night, first little mechanical hiccup… In short, vanlife!
Now it’s Desperately Seeking Coffee: we’ve forgotten the cafetière!
